Portfolio Companies Win 2016 Ventureohio Awards
VentureOhio, a trade group whose members include funders, founders, research institutions, accelerators, incubators and other members of startup ecosystems across Ohio, announced the 2016 VentureOhio Award winners at a gala in Columbus.
We congratulate all of the winners, and are thrilled that two of our portfolio companies are on the list. ConnXus was named Early Stage Company of the Year. Founder and CEO Rod Robinson accepted the award. ConnXus helps women-, minority- and veteran-owned small businesses connect with corporate customers, and corporations meet their supplier diversity goals.
Rod and his team have turned an idea into a tech company whose customers include some of the world's most recognizable brands, such as McDonald's and Coca-Cola.
Assurex Health won Exit of the Year. Myriad Genetics acquired the Mason-based personalized medicine company in August. The sale price was $225 million with $185 million to come if performance-based milestones are met. Assurex Health is based on technology licensed out of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the Mayo Clinic.
We have watched this incredible company grow from literally a handful of people in a repurposed garage to a pioneer in the field of pharmacogenomics that employs more than 400. Assurex Health COO Don Wright won Entrepreneur of the Year.
VentureOhio also gave out awards for Seed Stage Company of the Year, Growth Stage Company of the Year, and Social Impact.
