Carl Labanz is Manager of Process Innovation where he’s responsible for staying up-to-date with the next wave of technologies while exploring and identifying their strategic applications within CincyTech’s operations and investments. He also tracks the use of such technologies across our investments, finding overlap and opportunities for our portfolio to learn from each other’s adoption of new technology. Carl supports due diligence on potential investments in such emerging technologies and works to improve CincyTech’s investment processes by identifying and implementing new tools and workflow automations.
Carl is responsible for the creation of CincyTech’s Students Program where we connect our portfolio companies with university students and university resources for opportunities including internships, micro-internships, and university-led events and projects.
Prior to joining CincyTech in 2019, Carl played a pivotal role in the establishment of an independent graduate school specializing in national security studies located in Washington, D.C. He assumed responsibility for overseeing the initiation and management of startup operations, financial infrastructure, and contributed significantly toward the school achieving candidacy status for accreditation.
When he’s not working, Carl enjoys reading, specifically science fiction and fantasy, and playing pickleball and chess. He loves to cook and earned an online certificate in “Professional Plant-based Cooking” by Rouxbe Online Culinary School.
